POSITION SUMMARY

The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting key financial operations. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, proficiency in accounting practices, and a strong ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. The ideal candidate will ensure the integrity of financial data and contribute to the company's financial health by overseeing daily bookkeeping functions, preparing financial reports, and assisting with budgeting and compliance tasks.

Requirements

OBJECTIVES

? Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring that all entries are accurate and up-to-date.

? Prepare and post journal entries, including adjustments, accruals, and amortizations, in line with company policies and accounting standards.

? Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring all reports are timely and accurate.

? Provide accurate financial data to assist in the budgeting and forecasting process, helping to inform strategic decisions.

? Track and analyze company expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and provide recommendations for expense management.

? Conduct regular reconciliations with the Commissions Department to ensure the accuracy of cash balances and identify any discrepancies.

? Support the preparation and filing of sales tax, payroll tax, and other regulatory filings, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal requirements.

? Assist in the preparation for internal and external audits by organizing financial records and responding to auditor inquiries..

? Assist in payroll preparation, ensuring accurate calculation of employee wages, deductions, and compliance with payroll regulations.

? Maintain positive relationships with vendors and customers by addressing inquiries related to payments and invoices promptly. ? Ensure all financial documents are properly filed, organized, and accessible for auditing and reporting purposes. ? Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy. ? Perform other related duties as assigned.

? Expertise in using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks ) and Excel for managing and reporting financial data.

? Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and their application in daily bookkeeping tasks.

? Ability to effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

? Proactive in identifying issues and developing solutions to financial discrepancies.

? Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet tight deadlines.

? Maintain strict confidentiality of financial and payroll information.

? Strong focus on maintaining positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

? Ability to adapt to changing business needs and handle unexpected financial challenges.

? Demonstrates ethical behavior and integrity in all financial dealings.

? Ability to work collaboratively within a finance team and across other departments.

? Comfort with utilizing and learning new software tools to improve financial operations.

? Commitment to staying updated with industry best practices and regulatory changes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

? Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

? Minimum of 3-5 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably within the insurance or financial services industry. Experience with accounting software and ERP systems is highly desirable.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

? Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer. Occasional walking, standing, and light physical activity may be required.

? Extended use of a computer screen is required. Visual acuity must be sufficient to read financial statements, reports, and computer screens.

? Proficiency in handling office equipment, such as computers, calculators, and filing systems, is necessary.
