Sitework & Utility Estimator

Hobbs Excavating LLC is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sitework & Utility Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in estimating underground utilities, grading, storm water management, roadwork, and related civil construction scopes. This role is critical in preparing accurate and competitive bids for both public and private projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze project plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports
• Prepare quantity takeoffs for sitework, excavation, grading, and utilities
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes
• Develop detailed cost estimates and bid proposals
• Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure estimate accuracy
• Identify potential risks and cost-saving opportunities
• Accurately determine and order the materials needed for each project
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of material costs, labor rates, and industry trends

Essential Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in sitework and/or utility estimating
• Strong understanding of civil construction methods and materials
• Proficiency in estimating software (Trimble, HCSS, Bluebeam, or similar)
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with DOT or municipal projects
• Background in construction management or civil engineering
• Familiarity with GPS machine control and modern grading technologies

Work Hours/Expectations:

• 8 Hour day with flexibility
• Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
