These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills that support the National Park Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.PLEASE NOTE: An ?Enrollee? is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. An ?Enrollee? is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions.This opportunity applies to applicants legally eligible to work in the United States.DurationThis position is funded for an average of 20 hours per week for up to 494 total hours.LocationThis position supports Interior Region 1 and is remote.Qualifications:Minimum of 15 year(s) of experience in environmental reviews, river/watershed hydrology systems and municipal planning OR BA/BS Degree in hydrology, environmental studies/planning, engineeringKnowledge and familiarity with agency permittingExperience required with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, MS Outlook, MS SharePointDuties:Support the Partnership Wild and Scenic Rivers Program and provide technical assistance to NPS staff for water resources projects including those subject to environmental permitting through Section 7 of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act.Assist NPS staff with technical review of engineering drawings. Provide recommendations of nature-based solutions for erosion management, scour protection, aquatic connectivity and other related topics.40%Review and advise on WSRA Section 7 Determination Letters and agency responses for other permit reviews. Recommend additions to PWSR Section 7 Determination database.30%Assist team members with developing strategies and guidance on negotiation with project proponents/permitting agencies; prepare for and attend site meetings.20%Contribute expertise to related WSR projects such as surveys, studies, river restoration, and dam removals.10%Other:Travel Requirements: Once per month; participate in meetings with agency representatives and site visits near streams and rivers throughout New England and Mid-Atlantic RegionPhysical requirements: Job is primarily sedentary and performed in an office environment.
