Work Environment: Hybrid

Locations: State College, Mechanicsburg, or Williamsport, PA

Position Summary:

As a Transportation Engineer 3, you will perform and support moderately complex engineering design tasks, contribute to project delivery, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. You will apply sound engineering judgment, support project coordination, and begin guiding junior staff while continuing to grow technically and professionally.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop roadway, traffic, and transportation design plans using engineering software and CAD tools
  • Prepare portions of plans, specifications, reports, and permit applications
  • Conduct field investigations and support construction observation activities
  • Analyze data and apply engineering principles to develop practical design solutions

  • Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders on project tasks
  • Provide guidance to junior staff and contribute to team development

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 4+ years of relevant experience, including internships
  • Strong understanding of transportation or roadway design principles
  • Experience with design software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, or AutoCAD
  • Ability to manage tasks, meet deadlines, and work within project budgets
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred:

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
  • Experience with PennDOT, municipal, or state transportation projects
  • Progression toward Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior staff

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary based on experience. RETTEW offers an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), giving you a real stake in the company’s success and long-term value.
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and retirement savings options.
  • Opportunities to grow your career through hands-on project experience, exposure to a variety of transportation projects, and collaboration with experienced engineers and project managers.
  • Support from our in-house training and development team, offering structured professional development, mentorship, and continuously evolving resources designed to help you build expertise and grow your career.
  • A flexible, hybrid work environment that supports both productivity and work-life balance.
  • A culture where your work is visible and valued, you are trusted with real responsibility, and your contributions directly impact project outcomes and client success.
