SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under direction of a Registered Nurse, the Patient Care Assistant contributes to the patient care activities and related non-professional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of the patient. Actual job tasks may vary depending on the unit or department assigned.

5 South is a fast-paced medical telemetry unit at Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center, offering a diverse and enriching clinical experience within a supportive, team-oriented environment. The unit cares for patients with a broad spectrum of acute and chronic medical conditions-including respiratory, endocrine, renal, and cardiac-related diagnoses-many of whom require continuous cardiac monitoring, providing staff with strong opportunities to develop advanced assessment and critical-thinking skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

• BLS required prior to orientation completion
