Radiation Therapist Job Details

• Location: State College, PA 16803 (Central Pennsylvania healthcare jobs)
• Facility: Hospital – Radiation Oncology Department
• Position Type: Locum Tenens Radiation Therapist (Travel/Contract)
• Start Date: November 10, 2025
• End Date: February 9, 2026
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 8-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday (no weekends or holidays)
• Weekly Hours: 40

Radiation Therapist Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy program
• Current ARRT(T) certification and registration as a Radiation Therapist
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience as a Radiation Therapist
• Experience with Varian Linear Accelerator (True Beam) preferred
• Familiarity with Meditech and Aria EMR systems is a plus

Radiation Therapist Responsibilities

• Administer radiation therapy treatments using Varian Linear Accelerator (True Beam)
• Verify diagnosis, prescription, patient chart, and identification before each treatment
• Educate patients on treatment plans and communication protocols
• Prepare treatment rooms, equipment, and immobilization devices
• Ensure radiation safety protocols for patients and staff
• Maintain communication with patients during therapy sessions
• Perform CT simulation procedures as required
• Conduct patient timeouts and monitor for side effects or emotional concerns, reporting to physicians as needed
• Assist with supply management and accurate record-keeping
• Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, and quality improvement standards
• Perform equipment safety checks and report issues promptly
• Support scheduling and clerical tasks to enhance department efficiency
