Who We Are:

Gift of Life Donor Program is a non-profit agency serving eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and Delaware. We are responsible for recovering organs and tissues used in lifesaving and life-enhancing transplants.

What We Want:

Ideally skilled Surgical technologists or EMT-B's with a passion for saving or changing a life.

This role requires that you have:

• Ideally graduated from a certified surgical technology program or completed an Associate degree program in a related profession and/or one year of surgical technology experience ideally within an OR environment, or 2-3 years of EMT-B.
• Be willing and able to work a 5 day on-call, 3 day off schedule.
• Ideally possess knowledge of surgical aseptic techniques, human anatomy, and physiology is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal presentation, as well as organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Have strong interpersonal skills to facilitate team building and partnering with colleagues and peers.
• Live within 40 minutes of our Hershey, PA office
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize in a rapidly changing and high- pressure clinical environment.
• Experience with the implementation of new policies and procedures ideally in a medical setting. As well as good documentation practices.

Other essential requirements include:

• Good interpersonal skills and be detail oriented
• Possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable
• Possess a Real ID and/or current Passport
• Ability to operate 4-wheel drive vehicle and van in fair weather and adverse conditions
• Assist in maintaining vehicle fleet
• Ability to use Microsoft Outlook, produce labels from a PC and use the GLDP intranet
• Must be competent to perform documentation of donor recovery data
• Will be required down the road to have a working knowledge of AATB standards and requirements. FDA, AOPO, UNOS, and EBAA.

Some of what you’ll be doing:

• Be trained to perform tissue recoveries, adhering to and exemplifying established protocols and procedures.
• Adhere to the required Gift of Life Donor Program (GLDP) training program.
• Cross-train to perform eye banking job duties.
• Perform duties as directed by the assigned team leader and communicate effectively with everyone including the administrator on call.
• Perform miscellaneous related duties and perform other duties as assigned.
• Assemble and load necessary equipment and supplies for transport to donor hospitals or for In- House recoveries in our Metro area
• Travel to donor hospitals
• Set up necessary supplies for recovery, then repack and restock donor bags and supplies after each case.
• Position, drape, and prep donor following GLDP, AATB, FDA, EBAA, and tissue processor policies
• Obtain sterile blood for serology testing. Perform instrument count and sterilization procedures
• Reconstruct, clean, and provide standard postmortem care to donor
• Clean and return OR to its previous condition
