Internal Medicine Physician – Outpatient Primary Care
Position Summary
A healthcare organization is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Internal Medicine Physician to provide comprehensive outpatient primary care services to adult patients. This role focuses on preventive care, diagnosis and management of acute and chronic medical conditions, and long-term continuity of care within an ambulatory practice setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide outpatient primary care services to adult and geriatric patients
- Perform comprehensive histories, physical examinations, and routine health assessments
- Diagnose and manage acute illnesses and chronic medical conditions
- Deliver preventive care services including screenings, immunizations, and wellness visits
- Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans
- Order, interpret, and document laboratory and diagnostic test results
- Manage medication regimens and chronic disease follow-up
- Perform office-based procedures within scope of practice
- Coordinate care with specialists, hospitals, and ancillary services
- Educate patients on disease prevention, lifestyle modification, and self-management strategies
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation
- Participate in quality improvement, population health, and patient safety initiatives
Practice Setting
- Outpatient internal medicine or primary care clinic
- Minimal or no inpatient responsibilities depending on organizational structure
- Scheduled clinic hours with limited after-hours call as applicable
Patient Population
- Adult and geriatric patients
- Broad range of preventive, acute, and chronic medical conditions
Work Environment
- Ambulatory primary care practice
- Team-based, collaborative care model
- Emphasis on continuity of care, prevention, and chronic disease management
Requirements
Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency program
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
- Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the practicing state
- DEA registration or eligibility
