Principal Application Engineer- Solutions Architecture
We Are
Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.
You Are
You have spent a decade or more in the space where engineering physics meets enterprise architecture, and you know that the hardest customer conversations are not about solver accuracy or mesh quality. They are about workflow adoption, ROI justification, and whether a VP of Engineering will actually trust your solution enough to bet their product roadmap on it. You think in systems, not tools. When a customer describes a business problem, you are already sketching the integration points, the data flows, the handoffs between simulation, AI, and deployment, and you know which parts will break if the architecture is not right from the start.
You are comfortable walking into a room with a CTO and three directors who do not agree on anything and walking out with a shared technical vision that everyone believes in. You do not oversell and you do not hand-wave. You architect solutions that actually work under pressure, at scale, across teams that may not even be in the same time zone. You have built enough complex engagements to know when to push back, when to simplify, and when to bring in the right specialist. At Synopsys, you will shape how the world's most ambitious engineering organizations use simulation, AI, and digital engineering to build what comes next.
What You'll Be Doing
- Architect end-to-end multi-physics simulation and digital engineering solutions for strategic and enterprise customers using ANSYS, Synopsys, NVIDIA Omniverse, and third-party platforms
- Lead technical strategy in high-stakes presales engagements, translating executive business objectives into scoped, defensible solution architectures with clear ROI and adoption paths
- Define solution vision, functional and system architecture, integration patterns, data models, and deployment strategies across complex customer environments
- Partner with sales, account teams, and regional leadership to identify and shape opportunities where integrated simulation, AI/ML, and workflow automation deliver measurable customer outcomes
- Drive technical feasibility assessments, risk mitigation planning, and governance for solution-led engagements, ensuring architectures are scalable and aligned to customer maturity
- Contribute to and validate proposals, SOWs, framework agreements, and work orders, including technical sections, milestones, and acceptance criteria
- Mentor solution engineers and architects across regions, establish reusable architecture patterns, and influence product strategy through direct customer insights
The Impact You Will Have
- Shape how Fortune 500 engineering organizations adopt and scale simulation-driven workflows that directly affect product development timelines and R&D efficiency
- Drive revenue growth by architecting solutions that win competitive, multi-million-dollar engagements and expand customer footprint across business units
- Influence Synopsys product roadmap and strategy by surfacing real-world integration challenges, workflow gaps, and enterprise requirements from the field
- Establish architecture standards and best practices that get reused across regions, reducing time to value and improving solution consistency for customers globally
- Build trusted advisor relationships with executive and technical stakeholders at accounts where simulation and AI are core to competitive advantage
- Accelerate customer maturity in digital engineering and AI adoption, helping teams move from tactical tool use to strategic, enterprise-scale transformation
- Mentor and elevate the technical capability of solution engineers and architects across the organization, raising the bar for how we engage and deliver
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline
- 10+ years of hands-on experience architecting and delivering engineering simulation, digital engineering, AI platforms, or enterprise technology solutions
- Deep expertise designing complex solutions using ANSYS and Synopsys multi-physics products, NVIDIA Omniverse, and related open-source or third-party technologies
- Proven track record leading solution-focused engagements for strategic or enterprise customers, including technical scoping, architecture definition, and stakeholder alignment
- Strong working knowledge of multi-physics simulation, workflow automation, optimization, AI/ML integration, data management, and enterprise system integration
- Exceptional ability to communicate technical architecture and business value to executive audiences, including CTOs, VPs of Engineering, and IT leadership
- Willingness to travel up to 25% for customer engagements, workshops, and internal collaboration
- Who You Are
- You can walk into a room with conflicting stakeholders and leave with a shared technical vision that everyone believes is theirs
- You know the difference between a solution that demos well and one that will actually scale in production, and you design for the latter every time
- You do not wait for perfect information to start architecting, you ask the right questions, map the unknowns, and move forward with clarity and confidence
- You push back when a proposal is under-scoped, a timeline is unrealistic, or a customer expectation is misaligned with what the technology can actually deliver
- You have built enough complex integrations to know where things break, and you design around those failure modes before they become project risks
- You mentor naturally, not because it is in your job description, but because you care about raising the capability of the people around you
