Position Summary

Spring Mill Manor is seeking a talented, organized, and motivated Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As a premier wedding and event venue, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional dining experiences for weddings, social events, and corporate functions. The Sous Chef will work closely with the Executive Chef to oversee kitchen operations, maintain high food quality standards, and ensure flawless execution of all events.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Executive Chef in planning, preparing, and executing menus for weddings, banquets, and special events.
• Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff during food preparation and service.
• Ensure all food is prepared according to established recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines.
• Monitor food inventory, assist with ordering, and manage product rotation to minimize waste.
• Maintain compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
• Train, mentor, and develop culinary team members.
• Assist with scheduling kitchen staff and managing labor costs.
• Support the Executive Chef in menu development and seasonal offerings.
• Ensure kitchen equipment is properly maintained and report repair needs as necessary.
• Step into a leadership role during the Executive Chef's absence.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2–5 years of culinary experience in a high-volume kitchen, banquet facility, hotel, country club, or event venue.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced event environment.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
• Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
• Culinary degree or formal culinary training is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in a hot and fast-paced kitchen environment.
