Job Title: Consultant - Machining & Manufacturing Engineering Employment Type: Contract (1099 or LLC) Pay Range: $3,000-$3,600/weekly (fixed weekly rate) Location: Deployment to Hanover PA then remote Duration: 1-2 weeks onsite + remote report out for 1-2 weeks Travel: 50%+ #aerospaceconsulting #manufacturingengineering #CNC #DMGMORI Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Supplier Development Consultant with a strong background in machining and manufacturing processes to support our client following their recent facility transition to Hanover, PA. The consultant will perform an onsite assessment of current machining equipment, processes, and workflows, and provide actionable recommendations to improve technology utilization, streamline operations, and enhance productivity. Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate production machining equipment, processes, work instructions, tooling, and fixturing.
• Assess the condition and capability of existing equipment.
• Analyze machining sequences and identify opportunities to optimize or re-route manual operations to CNC equipment.
• Evaluate opportunities for SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Dies) implementation to reduce changeover times for similar part families.
• Conduct a Value Stream Mapping (VSM) exercise to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
• Review inspection practices to ensure defects are identified early in the process rather than post-production.
• Deliver a structured assessment report with recommendations for process improvements, technology upgrades, and strategic investments.

Required Qualifications

• Strong manufacturing/operations background with expertise in machining and processing.
• Ability to execute VSM exercises and assess workflows at both tactical and strategic levels.
• Knowledge of advanced manufacturing technologies and ability to make recommendations for adoption.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and produce actionable recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in DMG MORI machines.
• Strong interpersonal and soft skills, with the ability to take ownership and drive actions to closure.
• Experience supporting supplier development through capital equipment recommendations, including supplier selection and quoting processes.
