Farm Maintenance Tech
Job Summary
The Farm Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining duck houses at multiple locations, as well as installing, maintaining, and repairing farm equipment and live haul trailers.
The essential duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Maintain and work with equipment such as: ventilation controls, gas fired heaters, feed augers, fans, light and light manure handling equipment.
· Diagnose and resolve issues with automatic electric control panels to ensure efficient and productive operation of farm barns.
· Conduct maintenance and ensure the proper operation of multiple automatic feeding auger supply systems to guarantee consistent and reliable performance in farm barns.
· Perform maintenance on duck houses, including plumbing and electrical systems, and conduct preventive maintenance to ensure optimal operation and longevity of facilities.
· Diagnose and resolve issues with automatic electric control panels to ensure efficient and productive operation of farm barns.
· Carry out maintenance and ensure the proper functioning of water supply systems in farm barns to guarantee continuous and efficient water distribution for livestock and farm operations.
· Perform maintenance tasks on live haul trailers, including sanitizing systems and general upkeep, to ensure the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the equipment for transporting livestock.
· Safely operate machinery and work with live production areas to ensure equipment remains in service.
· Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
· Fabricate and work from layouts, ensuring precise construction and repair
· Listens for unusual sounds from equipment to detect malfunction and collaborates with the maintenance team to diagnose problems.
· Dismantles defective equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
· Lays out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, and repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
· Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment.
· Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.
· Ensure all paperwork is filled out in clean, legible, and accurate format, completed with required information.
· Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
· Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal codes and regulations.
· Report any potential Food Safety issues to management immediately.
· Report any damages to company vehicles, equipment, and buildings via maintenance work order software program through lead or manager.
· Report any animal welfare related issues to management immediately.
· Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
· Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Minimum Required Qualifications
The minimum required qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Two (2) years operations or farm maintenance experience, required.
· One (1) year experience with plumbing, mechanical, and electrical, required.
· One (1) year Stig, and Mig welding experience, required.
· Valid Driver’s License with clean record, required.
· Knowledge of animal welfare and GMP practices is preferred.
· Excellent written and communication skills.
· Ability to multitask and effectively prioritize workload.
· Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to independently make decisions with minimum supervision.
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
· Basic personal computer skills: knowledge of Maintenance CMMS systems and Outlook.
· Strong teamwork skills with willingness to assist others.
· Ability to use tools to fix or fabricate parts.
· Ability to satisfy all assigned work schedules, including weekends, and comply with all time and attendance policies.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands
The physical requirements/environmental factors for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
· Must be able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach and service machinery.
· Must be able to visually inspect machines.
· Must be able use both hands for simple/firm grasping.
· The ability to safety ascends/descend stairs constantly.
· Must be able to move 50 pounds alone and over 80 pounds with assistance occasionally.
· Wide range of working conditions including office and farms.
· Potential exposure to odors, fumes, airborne particles (including duck fluff), hazardous chemicals, and ammonia.
· Outside conditions that include inclement weather, cold, heat, and humidity.
· Noise level may be loud at times.
