Facilities Coordinator
The Waldorf School of Philadelphia seeks a half-time (20 hours/week) Facilities Coordinator. The Facilities Coordinator is an integral member of the administration who is responsible for maintaining the school’s buildings and grounds in support of the school’s mission and the work of its staff and faculty in achieving that mission. They support the School’s mission by coordinating tasks and/or performing functions to insure a safe, well-maintained, clean, safe, and aesthetically-pleasing campus environment that is conducive to learning.
The Facilities Coordinator proactively manages the maintenance and cleanliness of the school’s physical facilities and surrounding grounds by insuring that building systems are in good working order; that repairs to the buildings, furnishings, etc. are performed promptly and properly; classrooms, restrooms, and all public areas are clean; and that the concerns and requests of teachers and staff, parents, visitors and business associates are treated in a considerate and respectful manner. The position requires a “systems-oriented thinker” with hands-on general contracting skills, a team-player attitude, good communications skills, and excellent task management skills. The ideal person in this position approaches their responsibilities with an attitude of care and personal commitment to being of service to our school and to Waldorf Education. This position reports to the Director of Operations and is indirectly accountable to the Leadership Team.
Requirements
Solid knowledge of, and hands-on experience with, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and HVAC systems gained through work with a general contractor for at least 2 years.
Certificate from trade school highly desirable.
Minimum high school or trade school diploma; some college preferred.
High degree of organization, including the ability to prioritize tasks, develop “punch lists,” and manage complex tasks.
Ability to determine when a task requires use of outside contractor or service.
Flexibility and adaptability to changes in work requirements.
Computer proficiency; willingness to be trained or to learn new software as it becomes available.
Additional Information:
This job may require some heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing, walking, climbing, working on a ladder, crouching, carrying materials, furniture, tools, and equipment as needed. Must be willing and able to be “hands-on.”
Anticipated work schedule: 6:30 - 11:30 a.m. during school year; 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. during summer. This is a half-time, hourly position with pro-rated sick leave benefits. There are currently no other benefits associated with this position.
