Senior Advanced Systems Engineer

Acara Solutions seeks a Senior Advanced Systems Engineer for our client in Pittsburgh, PA .

• As a Satellite Systems Engineer, you'll be part of a cross-functional team responsible for missile tracking and defense initiatives.
• Support satellite and missile-tracking system engineering within a cross-functional team.
• Contribute to system architecture, requirements analysis, and interface definition.
• Develop and assess technical performance measures for mission effectiveness.
• Coordinate system design activities related to space-ground systems.
• Prepare documentation to guide the development and integration of the system.

Job Requirements

Required Skills / Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering or Science, Engineering or Mathematics.
• Minimum of 8 years of Space/Ground system architecture experience.
• Minimum of 8 years of Telemetry, Tracking, and Command (TT&C) satellite to ground experience.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience driving the definition of Interface Control Documents (ICD).
• Minimum of 8 years of experience collaborating with multiple customers to define a standard solution.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience with space constellation systems.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience with ICD development and coordination to support space missions.
• Minimum of 8 years of Flight dynamics management experience (related to larger space constellations).
• Minimum of 8 years of Space ground antenna experience.
• Minimum of 8 years of OpenC3 experience.
• Minimum of 8 years of MDA program experience.
• Minimum of 8 years of Space constellation program operational experience.
• Minimum of 8 years of Spacecraft anomaly support experience.
• Minimum of 8 years of Constellation design experience.

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:

• Master's Degree.
• Agile experience.
• Requirements analysis and decomposition into physical, functional, and logical views.
• Architecture decomposition and interface definition.
• System-level Technical Performance Measures (TPM) development and analysis, driving mission effectiveness with an ability to define segment budgets and system tradeoffs.
• Ability to derive system probabilistic analysis related to space ground systems and create and manage associated workbooks.
• Coordinate mission performance system design within an MBSE model.
• Drive interface definition development based on mission-derived technical performance measures.
• Space mission design and architecture (sensing, communication, payload management, mission data processing).
• System design change management and coordination.
• System thread design and CONOPs development.
• Collision avoidance, station keeping, orbit insertion, de-orbit, LEOPs support.
• Orbit determination methods.
• Space to ground contact planning.
• Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) & Familiarity with MagicDraw.
• Requirements Management and Agile Development.
• Familiarity with standard enterprise interfaces (gRPC, Kafka, REST) and cloud architectures.
• Familiarity with flight dynamics management and space satellite systems.
• Cross-company collaborative design development.
• Managing customer requirements and coordination.
• Knowledge of CCSDS protocol.
• Knowledge of other standard enterprise interface methods (SNMP, gRPC).
• Knowledge of commercial cloud systems and enterprise interface protocols.
• Ability to create clear documentation to drive system development.
• RF and optical space communications.
• IP network knowledge.
• Knowledge of automated flight dynamics operational workflows (and related development).
• Knowledge of A.I. solutions, Freeflyer, or Meridian.
• Knowledge of constellation situation awareness and trending analysis methods and tools.
