Job Summary
The Control Engineer is responsible for designing, programming, and supporting PLC and HMI/SCADA-based automation systems for industrial applications. This role involves developing control logic, integrating field devices and networks, and supporting system commissioning and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate within established engineering standards..
Job Description
- Design, develop, program, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems using Allen-Bradley Logix platforms.
- Develop and configure HMI/SCADA applications using FactoryTalk View.
- Implement and support industrial communication networks, including EtherNet/IP.
- Integrate Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and other field devices into control systems.
- Develop, configure, and tune PID control loops for process optimization.
- Interpret and work from Process & Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs), electrical schematics, and logic diagrams.
- Perform system testing, commissioning, and on-site startup support as needed.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation including functional specifications, control narratives, and test procedures.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure compliance with company engineering standards.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for existing automation systems.
- Ensure systems are designed and implemented in accordance with safety and industry standards.
Skills Required
- 5-7 years of PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley Logix)
- 3+ years of HMI/SCADA design experience (FactoryTalk View)
- Knowledge of common industrial networks (EtherNet/IP)
- Knowledge of VFDs and common system interfaces
- Ability to read Process & Instrumentation Drawings is a plus.
- Ability to read electrical diagrams.
- Ability to read logic diagrams.
- Knowledge of PID.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Team player who can adapt well to engineering standards
Education/Training/Certifications
- High School degree or GED
- Bachelor or Master Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering
