Public works road worker - laborer/operator
Job Summary
Join our dynamic team as a Public Works Road Worker, where you'll play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the infrastructure of our community! You will be hands-on in various projects that ensure our roads and public spaces are safe, functional, and welcoming for everyone. - Perform routine maintenance and repairs on roadways, sidewalks, and public facilities to ensure safety and accessibility.
- Operate specialized equipment such as graders, excavators, and dump trucks to complete various construction tasks.
- Assist in the installation of road signs, pavement markings, and other traffic control devices.
- Collaborate with team members to execute projects efficiently while adhering to safety protocols.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations such as road hazards or weather-related incidents.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used for reporting purposes.
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Basic qualifications
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while performing physical labor.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and the public.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for operating tools and equipment safely.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in public works or construction environments.
- Familiarity with road maintenance practices and safety regulations.
- Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License Class A with air brake endorsement or ability to obtain within 9 months of hire.
