Watershed/Nutrient Management Technician
Job Summary:
The Watershed/Nutrient Management Technician position is a full time (37.5 hours/week) position. The purpose of the position is to provide technical, informational and organizational assistance that will improve watershed organization development as well as the quality and quantity of the Commonwealth’s surface and groundwater resources, within Potter County.
As part of the of the Nutrient Management responsibilities the individual will be tasked with working with the ACT Technician to administer grants and programs, and will also be in charge of reviewing Act 38 Nutrient Management Plans.
Enhance aquatic habitat by designing and implementing projects and developing programs in partnership with cooperating agencies, individuals, and watershed associations.
Prepare, submit, and oversee grant proposals to provide funding for watershed activities.
Assist local farmers in managing nutrients on their farms and review Act 38 Nutrient Management Plans.
Arrange tours, field days, exhibits, demonstration projects, and other public education outreach events.
Assess natural resource problems and develop, update, and implement conservation plans.
Qualifications:
1. Qualified applicants are preferred to have a Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Biology, Hydrology, Aquatic Ecology, or other related field.
2. Candidates should be familiar with ArcGIS, Publisher, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
3. Candidates must be able to obtain an Act 151 Child Abuse Clearance, and Criminal Background Check, and FBI Finger Print Clearances.
4. Candidates must be able to obtain Act 38 Nutrient Management Certification.
