Job Title: Sr. Wi-FI test automation Engineer

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Position Type: Contract

Duration: 6 / 12 Month

Work Type: Onsite

Rate: Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.

Job Description:

Strong understanding of 802.11 Wi-Fi standards, RF fundamentals, and wireless security protocols.
Experience working with Wi-Fi routers, extenders, and mesh networking solutions.
Experience working with roaming protocols like 802.11 KVR and AP/Extender configuration.
Hands-on experience with test automation using Python, shell scripting, or similar tools, including developing reusable test frameworks, automating test execution.
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and test management tools is a plus.
Proficiency in network debugging, packet analysis, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with attention to details
Experience with industry standard Wi-Fi test tools like Veri wave, IXIA Chariot, Alethea, Spirent and packet debuggers like Wireshark and Omni peek.
Experience in developing test strategies and executing it with automation or manual testing
Basic knowledge of networking protocols like TCP/IP, DHCP, RADIUS etc.

Responsibilities:
Design, develop and execute test plans for Wifi routers, extenders, and mesh networking solutions.
Perform functional, performance and stress testing to evaluate Wi-Fi range, throughput, and reliability
Perform Wi-Fi roaming performance using 802.11k and 802.11v to ensure seamless handoff between devices
Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Python, shell scripting, or similar tools.
Collaborate with development and QA teams to identify automation opportunities and improve test coverage.
Troubleshoot and optimize existing automation frameworks and test suites for better reliability and efficiency.
Test and analyze the Wi-Fi extenders for coverage optimization, latency and backhaul performance.
Utilize Wi-Fi testing tools (Wireshark, iperf, etc.) to capture and analyze network performance
stay updated with Wifi6/6E/7 advancements and integrate best practices into test strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
Wi-Fi Expertise: Strong understanding of 802.11 Wi-Fi standards, RF fundamentals, wireless security protocols, and experience with Wi-Fi routers, extenders, and mesh networking solutions . This includes knowledge of roaming protocols like 802.11 KVR and AP/Extender configuration.

This is very important skillset on python test automation: Test Automation Skills: Hands-on experience with test automation using Python, shell scripting, or similar tools.
This includes developing reusable test frameworks and automating test execution .
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and test management tools is also valuable.

Network Troubleshooting: Proficiency in network debugging, packet analysis, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail .
This includes experience with industry-standard Wi-Fi test tools like Veriwave, IXIA Chariot, Alethea, Spirent, and packet debuggers like Wireshark and Omnipeek.

Test Strategy Development: Experience in developing and executing test strategies, including both automated and manual testing approaches .
This encompasses designing test plans for Wi-Fi routers, extenders, and mesh networking solutions.

Networking Knowledge: Basic understanding of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DHCP, RADIUS, etc. .
Additionally, the ability to stay updated with Wi-Fi 6/6E/7 advancements and integrate best practices into test strategies is important.
