Materials Control Supervisor
Location: Jefferson Hills, PA | Division: Manufacturing Division | Reports to: U.S. Procurement & Material Control Manager Status: Full-Time
Kurt J. Lesker Company (KJLC) is seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Materials Control Supervisor to lead our warehousing and inventory operations. This role is essential to ensuring the smooth flow of materials and products through our manufacturing process, supporting our commitment to operational excellence.
About the Role
As the Materials Control Supervisor, you will lead a multi-functional team responsible for shipping, receiving, inventory management, and material handling. You’ll play a key role in maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting production schedules, and ensuring timely order fulfillment. This position requires a proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about continuous improvement, organizing work and managing people.
Your Impact:
· Lead, coach, and mentor a cross-functional team in warehousing and materials control
· Supervise daily operations and provide real-time problem-solving support
· Ensure a safe and organized work environment, upholding 6S and safety standards
· Oversee the transport, storage, and inventory of raw materials, semi-finished, and finished goods
· Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, Project Management, Scheduling, and Manufacturing to meet production goals
· Maintain and improve departmental work instructions and training
· Monitor inventory levels and ensure appropriate stock quantities are maintained
· Support material control functions as a working supervisor when needed
· Drive continuous improvement initiatives and resolve operational issues through root cause analysis
· Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
· 1–3 years of supervisory experience
· 3+ years in a manufacturing environment
· Strong organizational and communication skills
· Experience with inventory management and material movement
· Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities
· Proficiency with material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack, calipers)
· Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. unassisted
Preferred:
· ERP system experience (KJLC ERP experience is a plus)
· Experience with Lean, 6S, CAPA, or process mapping
· 3+ years of materials control experience
· Shipping and logistics experience
