Job Details Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Director of the Cybersecurity Operating Office to lead critical cross-functional operations within our cybersecurity organization. This senior leader will oversee key functions, including Chief of Staff responsibilities, leadership briefings and reporting, Board of Directors briefing preparation, cybersecurity champions network and the development and oversight of security governance metrics. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned cybersecurity professional with a proven track record of driving operational excellence, translating cybersecurity insights into executive-level communications, and providing strategic oversight for high-impact initiatives. This role will report to the VP of Cyber Transformation and Strategy and serve as a trusted advisor, ensuring the cybersecurity organization operates efficiently and communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders. The preference is for candidates to be located within a reasonable distance of our Conshohocken, PA or Carrollton, TX offices. However, individuals in other locations will also be considered. Those not based near a primary site should expect to travel to these locations as needed. Key Responsibilities Executive Leadership & Chief of Staff Functions- Act as the Chief of Staff to the CISO, providing strategic support, operational oversight, and guidance on key priorities for the cybersecurity organization.
- Develop and maintain governance processes to track, align, and communicate cybersecurity initiatives with organizational goals.
- Coordinate and oversee the execution of high-priority projects and ensure efficient collaboration across internal teams.
- Manage and prioritize the CISO’s agenda, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Develop and manage cybersecurity briefings, presentations, and memos, for the CISO and other cybersecurity leaders.
- Translate complex cybersecurity topics into clear, concise, and compelling messaging tailored to various audiences, including senior executives, employees, and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent and accurate messaging to be used for reporting.
- Collaborate closely with the CISO to lead the creation and preparation of cybersecurity materials for Board of Directors meetings, ensuring clear and comprehensive reporting on risks, strategies, and progress.
- Under the direction of the Office of the CDIO, align with the coordinated plan to gather, validate, and refine content, ensuring alignment with the organization’s broader strategic goals.
- Establish, lead, and maintain a cybersecurity champions network across all Cencora teams to foster security awareness, accountability, and collaboration.
- Develop training materials, resources, and communication strategies to empower champions to serve as advocates for cybersecurity best practices within their respective teams.
- Coordinate regular meetings, workshops, and engagement opportunities to ensure alignment between the champions network and broader organizational goals.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the champions network, identifying opportunities for improvement and scaling successful initiatives.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for champions, providing guidance and support to address security-related challenges within Cencora teams.
- Define, develop, and maintain a comprehensive set of cybersecurity metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the organization’s security posture and govern the program effectiveness.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of metrics to executive leadership, Board members, and other stakeholders.
- Identify trends and insights from security data to drive informed decision-making and resource allocation inclusive of critical process improvement opportunities.
- Continuously enhance reporting processes and tools to improve transparency, accountability, and stakeholder engagement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- At least 10–12 years of experience in cybersecurity, including leadership roles with responsibility for communications, reporting, and operations.
- Proven experience working with C-suite executives and Boards of Directors, with a strong ability to translate technical topics into business-relevant insights.
- Deep understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, risk management principles, and emerging trends in the field.
- Strategic Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive organizational priorities with a focus on operational excellence.
- Executive Communication: Exceptional writing, editing, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Proficiency in analyzing and visualizing cybersecurity data to derive actionable insights and tell a compelling story.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset to build effective relationships across various levels of the organization.
- Organizational Agility: Adept at managing competing priorities and operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA are highly desirable.
- Experience with governance frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) and regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Familiarity with cybersecurity reporting tools and platforms.
