SBA Business Development Officer
Remote position- based in the Philadelphia area. (PA or NJ)
Position Overview
The SBA Business Development Officer is responsible for driving the growth of Small Business Administration (SBA) loan portfolios by identifying and cultivating new business opportunities. This role focuses on building relationships with referral sources, clients, and strategic partners to generate qualified SBA loan leads, while collaborating with internal teams to ensure a seamless loan process. The officer will maintain compliance with all organizational and SBA regulations, contributing to the success of the SBA Lending Division.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Generation : Proactively identify and engage potential clients through networking, referrals, and outreach to secure SBA loan opportunities.
- Client Engagement : Consult with prospects to understand their financial needs, recommend appropriate SBA loan solutions, and prepare compelling proposals to secure agreements.
- Strategic Partnerships : Develop and maintain relationships with business partners, collaborating on joint sales efforts, presentations, and follow-up activities.
- Sales Targets : Achieve or exceed individual and departmental revenue and activity goals, ensuring consistent progress toward financial objectives.
- Market Knowledge : Stay informed on SBA regulations, market trends, and competitive offerings by attending industry events, seminars, and training sessions.
- Relationship Management : Build and nurture long-term client relationships, creating account strategies to support sustained business growth.
- Team Collaboration : Work closely with underwriting, closing, and compliance teams to ensure smooth loan processing and adherence to all policies.
- Performance Tracking : Maintain accurate records of sales activities, including prospecting efforts, pipeline status, and deal progress, for review by leadership.
- Reporting : Provide regular updates to the division manager on business development activities, market insights, and goal attainment.
- Compliance : Ensure all activities align with organizational policies and regulatory requirements, including the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), and Equal Credit Opportunity Act.
- Travel : Conduct in-person meetings with prospects and clients as needed to build relationships and close deals.
Qualifications
- Education : Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience : Minimum of 3 years in business development, SBA lending, or a related financial services role.
- Technical Skills : Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM software.
- Drivers License : Valid drivers license required for travel.
- Interpersonal Skills : Ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with clients, partners, and internal teams.
- Organizational Skills : Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
