Vet Services Research Coordinator
Job Summary:
The Vet Services Research Coordinator primary role is to plan and support the execution of research projects aimed at improving duck health, welfare, and performance. This role will also assist in the lab with diagnostic activities and routine lab duties.
The essential duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Responsible for the planning and scheduling of feed trials, vaccine trials, and genetic studies.
• Coordinate daily care and data collection for research flocks (up to 3,000 ducks).
• Collaborate with the team on research tasks, including but not limited to, weighing, feeding, blood draws, and weekend checks.
• Compile and review data for analysis and reporting.
• Coordinate the collection and processing of field samples for diagnostic analysis with team.
• Track necropsy schedules, assist in documentation, and ensure timely reporting of results.
• Assist with scheduling and organizing vaccine production activities (e.g., live duck trials, quality checks).
• Conduct internal audit checklists for animal welfare and biosecurity compliance at corporate and contract farms.
• Adhere to and become a SME (Subject Matter Expert) in biosecurity measures.
• Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal codes and regulations.
• Report any animal welfare related issues to management immediately.
• Report any potential Food Safety issues to management immediately.
• Report any damages to company vehicles, equipment, and buildings via maintenance work order software program.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures. Minimum Required Qualifications:
The minimum required qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Minimum 3 years of equivalent experience in research or animal management required; poultry facility preferred.
• BS/BA degree in a related field preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record, required.
• Outstanding communication skills, both verbally and written.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to independently make decisions with minimum supervision.
• Ability to multitask and effectively prioritize workload.
• Knowledge of animal welfare, biosecurity, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Advanced personal computer skills: Working knowledge of Excel and Outlook.3
• Strong teamwork skills with a willingness to assist others.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures. Physical Demands:
The physical demands for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
• The ability to safely ascend/descend stairs constantly.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds alone or over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Exposure to odors, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and microbiological pathogens. DISCLAIMER
