Job Description

Job Description

Are you a friendly, energetic individual who loves making a positive first impression and giving back to your community?

If so, we are looking for a full-time Attended Donation Center Attendant (ADCA) at our Llanerch location. This role requires open availability and is central to delivering world-class customer service to our donors while supporting the efficient processing and flow of donations that directly fund our mission.

Who We Are

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, working for the greater good is at the core of what we do at Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County. Our mission — to improve the quality of life for people with barriers to self-sufficiency through the Power of Work — guides everything we do. While our work focuses on supporting individuals, our broader vision reflects the lasting community impact that happens when people receive a hand up.

By providing job training, social services, and employment support, we empower people to build meaningful careers, strengthen their families, and contribute to thriving communities.

The Attended Donation Center Attendant is responsible for welcoming and assisting all donors and customers, providing world-class customer service. This position also supports facility security and maintenance, breakdown of donations, adherence to all Goodwill process flows, maintenance of accurate donor records, and safe loading and offloading of trucks.

What You Will Do

  • Ensure 100% donor and customer satisfaction by providing world-class customer service; create a welcoming environment for prompt, friendly, and courteous donor interactions
  • Greet donors within 5 seconds in a prompt, friendly, and courteous manner; unload donations from vehicles, offer tax receipts, and maintain accurate daily donation counts
  • Efficiently process donations following all established Goodwill process flows and Guiding Principles
  • Sort Softlines from Hardlines and miscellaneous items using appropriate material handling equipment and labeling
  • Safely assist in loading and unloading trucks and vehicles without damage to merchandise, donor vehicles, or company vehicles
  • Maintain proper attendant attire, supplies, and equipment in accordance with Goodwill’s Guiding Principles and image standards
  • Follow safety policies and procedures ensuring maximum safety, security, and protection of all customers and company assets
  • Perform housekeeping functions to keep the workstation, production area, and donation site (interior and exterior) neat, clean, and organized; alert supervisors to maintenance needs and concerns
  • Work cooperatively with all consumers, community groups, co-workers, and departments to promote the achievement of the company mission
  • Fulfill and assist with all production functions and other duties as assigned; ability to work varied hours and days as the business dictates

What We are Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED preferred, along with a minimum of 1–3 months of related experience and/or training; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Friendly, customer-focused attitude with excellent communication skills; ability to interact positively with a diverse donor and community population
  • Ability to follow established process flows and maintain accurate records and donor counts
  • Ability to safely handle and sort donated goods using appropriate material handling equipment
  • Ability to work cooperatively with team members and departments to support the company mission
  • Open availability required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as the business dictates
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Employee discounts
  • Career growth and advancement opportunities
  • Ongoing training and development

Work Environment

This role involves frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and crouching, as well as use of hands to handle and feel objects and reach with hands and arms. The position requires the ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and includes outdoor work at the donation site in varying weather conditions.

This position works in a donation center and production setting and may be frequently exposed to moving or mechanical equipment and donated goods. The noise level is typically moderate. Required personal protective equipment (PPE) may include hand protection, eye protection when handling materials, and other safety gear as needed to reduce the risk of injury.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.
