Barback
Bastia is a Sardinian and Corsican restaurant in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia. We are located in the beautiful Hotel Anna & Bel, which is a 50-room hotel in the historic former Penn Home. Both the hotel and restaurant opened in August, 2024. We butcher whole animals, make bread in-house, have an extensive handmade pasta program, and maintain close relationships with farmers in the region.
The restaurant has opened to wide acclaim, including the highest 4-star rating from Jason Sheehan of Philadelphia Magazine, and has been featured in the Wall Street Journal among other national publications. We are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards for guest experience and culinary excellence. Every member of the team is imperative to maintaining these standards. The RoleThe barback is responsible for assisting the bar team in delivering excellence in guest service by keeping the bar stocked with liquor, beer, wine, garnishes, ice, and other products needed throughout the shift. The barback ensures the bar is set up for success ensuring glassware and tools are ready for service as well as ensuring the bar is ready for service the following day by properly cleaning and restocking at the end of the shift.
Responsibilities
- Strong conversational skills and teamwork orientation.
- Maintains fully stocked bar, including garnishes, syrups, and pre-batched items.
- Ensures freshness, labeling, and dating of juices; refills garnishes and ice wells.
- Restocks beer, wine, and liquor; changes empty kegs; cleans and restocks glassware.
- Assists bartenders during service and maintains a clean back bar and counter area.
- Follows company and safety policies, reporting incidents and completing necessary training.
- Welcomes guests, maintains a clean appearance, and supports positive working relationships.
- Adheres to quality standards, performs various physical tasks, and tracks 86’d beverage items.
- Assists in the requisition process and completes bar cleaning and restocking during closing duties.

Requirements & Experience
- 1-3+ years of hospitality experience in full-service restaurants.
- Open availability including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to ongoing changes.
- Professional and confident verbal and written communication with guests, employees and ownership.
- ServSafe and TiPs certified (or equivalent) preferred.
