About the Job
The Associate Immigration Attorney is responsible for managing a diverse caseload of immigration matters and providing high-quality legal representation to clients. This role involves client interaction, case preparation, and collaboration with legal assistants and other attorneys to ensure timely and effective handling of cases. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about helping individuals, families, and businesses navigate the U.S. immigration system.
Interact with various outside entities, including but not limited to clients, governmental agencies and officials, courts, corporations, and other law firms.
Draft complex case matters including briefs, motions, appeals, petitions, applications, affidavits, and evidentiary submissions with USCIS, EOIR, DOL, DOS, and federal courts.
Appear before immigration courts, USCIS interviews, and other relevant proceedings.
Organize, plan, and schedule cases on priority basis.
Handle and follow cases from inception to completion within the stipulated time frame, including handling a high volume of removal proceedings cases..
Review and approve documents and filings with accuracy.
Conduct client consultations, assess eligibility, and develop case strategies.
Maintain communication with clients, providing updates and guidance throughout the process.
Collaborate with paralegals and legal assistants to ensure accuracy and completeness of filings.
Conduct legal research and stay current with changes in immigration laws, regulations, and policies.
Manage deadlines, priorities, and case milestones within case management software.
About You
You are a self-directed, service-focused, team-player who brings at least a year of experience in a similar role and you have:
JD from an accredited law school.
1–3 years of experience practicing immigration law is a plus.
Admission to State Bar (Required).
Additional language skills are a plus.
Background in family-based and/or employment based immigration is a plus.
Strong interest in handling complex Immigration Court cases through trial; experience in removal defense preferred.
Strong knowledge of immigration statutes, regulations, and procedures.
Excellent legal writing, analytical, and research skills.
Exceptional communication and client service abilities.
Ability to manage multiple cases and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with immigration case management systems, such as ECAS.
Additional language skills are a plus.
Proficiency in Westlaw, Microsoft Word, Google Workspace, Adobe Acrobat, and able to learn new programs, systems, or applications quickly.

Must be able to prepare documents and review documents and information prepared by others. For some work may need to differentiate between colors and shapes. This job works in an office environment with close contact with other employees, standard levels of noise, movement, and odors, conditioned air and artificial light. No animals are permitted in the office space per our lease.
