Postdoctoral or scientist positions for neural repair and regeneration research
Postdoctoral or scientist positions are available to study exciting projects supported by NIH and other research foundations in the Center for Neural Repair and Regeneration at Temple University in Philadelphia. These positions provide an exceptional opportunity to participate in a collaborative environment to perform comprehensive research toward understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms of neural damage and developing therapeutic strategies for neurological disorders.
Highly motivated individuals with a strong background in the areas below are encouraged to apply: 1) Gene cloning, viral vector, and genetic research approaches, 2) molecular/cellular neurobiology and biochemistry, and 3) in vivo animal models to study neural damage, repair, and regeneration. Candidates should have a PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent in the field of neuroscience, biology, biomedicine, bioengineering, or biochemistry. Following appropriate training, successful applicants will have ample opportunity to develop new research skills and to perform innovative and cutting-edge research projects. The research in our Center is focused on neural development, injury, regeneration, and repair. The Center provides an outstanding research environment and facilities for all trainees and research scientists. Successful applicants will be paid with NIH/University guideline-based salary plus the standard benefits and become members of a highly motivated research team in collaboration with several other excellent research groups.
The research projects in our group focus on studying neural injury/damage, neuronal regeneration, neural signaling pathways, glial-neuronal interactions, and remyelination in the CNS. We are investigating the essential molecular/cellular mechanisms underlying neural lesions, neuronal regeneration failure, and axon demyelination in the CNS. We are highly interested in identifying novel genes and signaling pathways that regulate neural function and regrowth using various molecular, genetic, and viral approaches. We employ multiple in vitro and in vivo research approaches, including viral gene delivery, gene mutation, genetic and pharmacological methods, transgenic rodents, molecular/cellular neurobiology, gene sequencing, biochemistry, and multiple neural lesion models in rodents, such as spinal cord injury, optic nerve crush, and experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis. We aim to develop novel, highly effective, and translational strategies to promote neural regeneration, repair, neuroplasticity, and functional recovery.
