Academic Coordinator Job Description Summary
The Systems Engineering Masters Program Coordinator will oversee and manage all functions serving the Systems Engineering (SE) Master's program and students in the Electrical and Systems Engineering (ESE) department. Work with the Faculty Director to provide student advising; support admissions and administer program functions, including initial processing and screening of applicants; onboarding new students; addressing student queries; facilitating student professional development; and fostering student/alumni community. - Provide student advising and support through 1) ongoing academic advising: administer audits and implement policies and regulations; 2) advocate for students by connecting SE Master's students to services available in the department as well as the school and university; and 3) document and elevate systemic issues to Department Director and Faculty Director.
- Implement, improve and communicate administrative operations to attain transparency. Establish and document clear and streamlined processes (e.g. major transfer, dual major/degree, petitions, RCL/CPT, research opportunities). Creatively and effectively broadcast program goals, policies and processes for current and prospective students (may include community events, website, social media, student profiles, etc.)
- Foster student communities by developing student leadership in collaboration with the Electrical Engineering (EE) Master's Advisor. Leverage wealth of knowledge from student communities and networks to further student goals.
- Work closely with the University's Career services, SEAS Development, faculty and students/alumni to facilitate student professional development and build and maintain stronger connections with industry.
- Gather student/participant feedback to formulate emerging themes and actionable insight. Raise common/systemic student experiences (both positive and negative) with the MSE Program Manager, Department Director, and Faculty Director, propose improvements as appropriate and implement changes. Leverage technology, student leadership and creative communications channels to effectively support program and department goals.
