Security Officer

Fallingwater, a property entrusted to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, designated as a National Historic Landmark and inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, is seeking a full-time Security Officerfor the Security department. The Security Officer provides a secure environment for visitors and staff, and assists in maintaining the physical security systems and activities related to the protection, safeguarding and security of the Fallingwater site, buildings adjacent to the site, and WPC properties. This position reports directly to the Director of Safety and Security.

Job Duties

E=Essential M=Marginal

E Assists with the preventative maintenance and minor repair of security equipment as requested.

E Monitors security of buildings, collections and grounds.

E Acts as first responder to emergencies.

E Prepares incident reports and accident reports.

E Intercedes and handles disruptive visitors as requested.

E Reports unusual incidents or occurrences.

E Monitors video surveillance systems.

E Keeps log on security and safety related events.

M Supports the Conservancy’s cost containment and fundraising efforts and needs, as applicable.

M Performs additional duties and responsibilities as needed.

• Ability to work shifts, weekends and holidays.

• Steady or rotating shifts include the evening, night and day shifts.

• Utilizing keyboarding and fine motor skills.

• Pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.

• Bending, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling and crawling.

• Reaching overhead, at and below eye level.

• Climbing up and down stairways and ladders.

• Sitting/standing/walking for periods in excess of two hours.

• Possesses sufficient physical stamina to conduct field investigations in rough terrain and adverse weather conditions.

• Speaking and hearing in-person, telephone, and other remote speech.

• Seeing with near, far and peripheral visual acuity.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in security related field or a minimum of two years prior security experience with high exposure to the general public, with security experience in a museum setting preferred.

• Proven ability to follow detailed procedures and policies.

• Knowledge of security alarm, access control and video surveillance systems.

• Current certification in first aid and CPR.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to interact positively and professionally with visitors and staff and remain calm under pressure.

• Act 33 and 34 clearances required within first six months of employment.

• Must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
