Position Summary

Saint Eleanor Catholic Church is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Part-Time Custodial Technician to ensure that parish buildings and grounds remain clean, orderly, safe, and welcoming for worship, meetings, and parish events.

This position focuses primarily on custodial responsibilities, with limited light maintenance support, seasonal upkeep, and event preparation duties.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Custodial & Cleaning

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, sanitize, and maintain floors and surfaces
• Clean and restock restrooms
• Restock paper supplies and custodial items throughout parish facilities
• Empty trash and recycling throughout all facilities and remove garbage daily
• Clean interior windows and glass as needed
• Perform periodic deep cleaning, including floor waxing and seasonal cleaning tasks
• Maintain a structured cleaning schedule for the church, parish offices, meeting rooms, and parish spaces
• Prepare facilities before and after Masses, funerals, weddings, and parish events

Grounds & Exterior Care

• Walk the parish grounds each morning and remove litter, leaves, and debris to maintain a clean campus
• Blow off entrances and walkways at the church and parish office daily
• Assist in maintaining sidewalks, entryways, and exterior areas
• Help ensure safe access during snow, ice, or inclement weather
• Assist with seasonal grounds duties as directed

Facility Support & Light Maintenance

• Assist with room setup and breakdown (tables, chairs, furniture)
• Move and transport supplies or equipment as requested
• Monitor custodial supply levels and coordinate ordering or replenishment through the Facilities Director
• Perform light upkeep tasks such as cleaning and repainting doorways or other small areas as needed
• Assist with seasonal campus cleaning and repainting projects during spring and fall

Special Projects

• Assist with periodic campus organization and improvement projects
• Clean out and organize the Parish House garage annually
• Support other special projects as needed to maintain parish facilities

Safety & Communication

• Report safety hazards or maintenance concerns promptly
• Work cooperatively with parish staff to support parish activities and facility needs
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Prior custodial or janitorial experience preferred
• Ability to implement and maintain a comprehensive cleaning plan
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks including standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders
• Valid driver’s license preferred
• Reliable transportation and strong attendance record

Pre-Employment Requirements

• Successful completion of Archdiocese of Philadelphia and Pennsylvania background clearances
• Compliance with Arch3-diocesan Safe Environment policies
