Maintenance Supervisor – Food Manufacturing
A leading food production company is seeking an experienced and proactive Maintenance Supervisor to join its team at a high-volume, multi-shift facility located in the greater Philadelphia area. This role is critical to ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and equipment reliability across all aspects of production.
This is a direct hire/permanent job opening
The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee day-to-day maintenance operations, including preventative and reactive maintenance activities, team leadership, and coordination with production to minimize downtime and ensure product quality. The ideal candidate has a background in food or beverage manufacturing and a hands-on approach to mechanical, electrical, and industrial systems.
Key Responsibilities
Lead a team of maintenance technicians in supporting production, ensuring maintenance tasks are executed safely and efficiently.
Develop and implement preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
Coordinate maintenance schedules and allocate workloads based on operational needs.
Identify and troubleshoot equipment issues, minimizing downtime and enhancing production efficiency.
Monitor processes and procedures, recommending improvements to increase output and equipment lifespan.
Collaborate with safety and quality departments to uphold GMP, HACCP, and food safety compliance.
Foster a safety-first culture, ensuring all team members follow facility policies and industry regulations.
Conduct training and performance evaluations, supporting employee development and engagement.
Provide hands-on support for emergency repairs during production hours and on-call as needed.
Supervisory & Leadership Responsibilities
Manage, train, and mentor a team of maintenance technicians.
Support departmental goals by fostering teamwork, accountability, and a solutions-oriented approach.
Promote continuous improvement and knowledge-sharing within the team.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree or technical training in mechanical, electrical, or industrial systems – or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 5–7 years in a maintenance role, preferably in a food production environment.
At least 3 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
Proven ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Familiarity with industrial equipment such as conveyors, motor drives, gearboxes, packaging systems, and refrigeration units.
Strong electrical troubleshooting and PLC diagnostic skills.
Comfortable reading and interpreting technical diagrams and schematics.
Bilingual in Spanish is a plus but not required.
Valid driver’s license required.
