Fabrication Supervisor
Overview:
Consider joining the Pennex family as a Fabrication Supervisor at our York, PA location. The Fabrication Supervisor supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in fabrication of structural, ornamental, or related aluminum products by performing the following duties related to safety, quality, on time delivery, and cost.
Responsibilities:Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directly supervises employees in the Fabrication Department; carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Pennex's policies and applicable laws.
- Supervisory responsibilities include the following:
- Interviewing, hiring, and training employees
- Planning, assigning, and directing work
- Appraising employee performance and providing feedback
- Rewarding and disciplining employees
- Addressing complaints and resolving problems
- Promotes and creates a safe work culture through championing safe behaviors and training, ensures adherence to company and governmental policies and regulations.
- Works with Human Resources to coordinate the interviewing and hiring of full-time candidates; coordinates hiring to maintain required temporary staffing levels to meet production demands.
- Leads, manages, and coordinates the production crews training.
- Establishes Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure products meet quality standards; implements and trains workforce in following these procedures.
- Ensures production goals are met or exceeded, including yield, throughput, and quality through actively engaging the workforce and establishing accountability and production standards.
- Utilizes lean manufacturing techniques and other process improvement initiatives to drive efficiency and meet customer demands.
- Meets objectives for plant reliability measures (% uptime, % line rate, % scrap rate).
- Provides training opportunities and reviews development training plans.
- Manages and prepares daily production schedules.
- Works with maintenance and engineering to optimize the equipment performance and reliability.
- Works with engineering to launch new parts, provide shop floor expertise, and manufacturing strategy.
- Manages the timesheets and employee scheduling to meet production demands.
- Develops hourly team members on his/her shift by providing consistent and timely individualized feedback, annual performance reviews, and management of employee issues.
- Communicates with sales and management providing feedback and status of orders through the production floor.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent experience
Experience
- 4 years of relevant experience in a production management role in a manufacturing environment
Other Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and successfully execute tasks in accordance with business objectives
- Proven ability to implement change in manufacturing and/or maintenance systems
- Proven incident investigation skills and familiarity with structured tools (such as Root Cause Failure Analysis or 5 Why)
- Reads blueprints, scales, calipers and associated work tools
- Proficient with computer, spreadsheets, email, Excel, Work, PowerPoint, and word processing programs
- Basic knowledge of key OSHA regulations (such as Confined Spaces, Electrical Safety, Energy Isolation and Machine Safeguarding)
- Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
- Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available
- Must have regular attendance

- The employee is occasionally required to sit and use hands.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

- The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
