Accountant

Job Post Summary

Seeking a detail oriented Accountant to support financial operations including financial reporting, reconciliations, general ledger management, budgeting, financial analysis, regulatory compliance, and audit support. The role requires strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting systems, financial controls, and reporting processes. Experience in nonprofit, governmental accounting, SOX compliance, and tax related accounting is preferred.

Job Roles and Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory standards

• Manage general ledger activities including journal entries and account reconciliations

• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and bank reconciliations

• Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes

• Conduct financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis

• Assist with regulatory reporting and internal audit activities

• Support tax preparation and compliance activities

• Maintain accurate accounting records using accrual accounting and double entry bookkeeping

• Prepare financial reports and provide management insights

• Ensure compliance with SOX controls and accounting regulations

• Mentor junior accounting staff and support accounting best practices

• Utilize accounting software for financial management and reporting

Qualifications and Certifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards

• Experience in corporate, public, nonprofit, or governmental accounting

• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or PeopleSoft

• Strong Microsoft Excel and financial analysis skills

• Knowledge of SOX compliance and regulatory reporting preferred

• Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger management

• CPA or other accounting certification preferred but not mandatory

• Knowledge of tax regulations, nonprofit accounting, or estate accounting is an advantage
