SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Crane Service Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of overhead cranes, hoists, and related lifting equipment. This position requires strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, a commitment to safety, and the ability to provide excellent customer service in industrial environments.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs on-site inspections, maintenance, and repairs of overhead cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment
- Diagnoses and troubleshoots mechanical, structural, and electrical issues
- Conducts load tests and ensures equipment meets safety and operational standards
- Installs and commissions new crane systems and components
- Maintains accurate records of service calls, repairs, and parts used
- Communicates with customers to explain repairs and recommend preventive maintenance
- Adheres to OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Ensures all tools, equipment, and work areas are in a clean and safe condition
- Participates in on-call rotations and responds to emergency service requests as needed
- Understands and learns equipment operation through training, observation, and reading operations manuals
- Develops and maintains positive customer relations
- Efficiently communicates with other personnel
- Abides by all company and departmental policies and procedures
- Performs other related duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certificate or associate degree in electrical/electromechanical field is preferred
- Must posses a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation
- 2-3 years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance, preferably with overhead cranes or heavy lifting systems
- Strong understanding of AC/DC motor controls, VFDs, PLCSs and industrial wiring
- Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Ability to work at heights and in industrial environments
- Excellent problem-solving skills and communication skills
- Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs, climb ladders and perform manual labor
- Basic welding and torching may be required
- Ability to work independently and possess strong work ethic
- Must posses strong organization, oral, and written communication skills
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, when required
- Basic computer skills
WORK ENVIORMENT
- Field-based work at customer sites
- Exposure to noise, dust, grease and varying weather conditions
- Frequently exposed to loud environments, heights and moving machinery
- Requires climbing ladders, working on catwalks, and using safety harnesses
- Schedule is full-time, Monday Friday (7AM 3:30PM), with an on-call week
