Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring a PA or Compact RN license and at least 2 years of experience, with rotating shifts available.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a community hospital setting
• Rotating shifts preferred (days and nights); straight days or straight nights also considered
• 3x12-hour shifts per week (7:00–19:00 or 19:00–7:00)
• 13-week contract
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Patient population includes cardiac telemetry, med/surg tele, stepdown/IMC, genitourinary/renal, neurological, and gastrointestinal cases
• Clinical skills required include respiratory management (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care), IV therapy, central/PICC line management, blood product administration, cardiac drip titration, telemetry monitoring, and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Additional clinical responsibilities include heparin protocols, PCA management, thrombolytic agents, wound care/wound vac, IV insulin protocols, and pre/post cardiac cath care
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Floating within the hospital required; may also be required to float to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius

Requirements

• Active PA or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA-issued only)
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Two supervisor references from within the past 2 years preferred
• Background concerns must be disclosed prior to consideration
• Fingerprinting must be completed within 24–48 hours of signing
• Drug screen and required labs must be completed within 24–48 hours of signing

Additional Information

• Local candidates are accepted at the travel rate
• Former permanent employees of this facility are not eligible for this position
• Travel experience is not required; first-time travelers will be considered
• Every other holiday coverage required
• All RTO requests must be submitted upfront at time of consideration
• Approximately 1 hour of pre-start modules must be completed before entering the facility
• Scrub color or dress code not specified — follow facility guidelines upon orientation
