Location: Pittsburgh, PA 15237 (McCandless area)

New Hire Starting Salary Range: $18.59 – $21.16 per hour (After hire, pay increases can be earned, see below).

About the Opportunity

This is a permanent, full-time career opportunity within a premier outpatient physical rehabilitation institute. If selected, you will be hired directly as a regular employee of the organization we represent. You will be on their payroll and eligible for their full suite of benefits from your start date. This is not a temporary, contract, or "temp-to-hire" role. This position serves as an excellent foundational entry point into the healthcare field, offering hands-on exposure to physical, occupational, and speech therapy disciplines within a structured, professional clinical setting.

Purpose

The Rehabilitation Aide provides vital clinical and clerical support to ensure the smooth, efficient operation of the rehabilitation facility. Operating under the direct supervision of licensed clinical staff—including Physical Therapists (PT), Occupational Therapists (OT), Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP), and Certified Assistants—this professional prepares treatment zones, coordinates patient logistics, and assists with non-treatment aspects of therapy. This role is essential for maintaining strict regulatory sanitization standards, maximizing therapist workflow efficiency, and ensuring high-quality, safe patient navigation.

Responsibilities

  • Direct Clinical Support: Greet and escort patients to designated treatment areas, communicate their arrival immediately to the attending therapist, and assist with patient transfers, setup, and non-treatment care aspects under direct visibility.
  • Modality Support & Monitoring: Competently apply specific therapeutic modalities and support routine exercises as explicitly mapped out by licensed clinicians. Actively observe and report patients’ verbal and non-verbal feedback or physical responses to the supervising therapist.
  • Environmental & Equipment Sanitization: Maintain treatment areas, mats, and clinical modalities in a neat, orderly, and sterile condition. Clean and sanitize all equipment between patient sessions in strict compliance with infection control and regulatory healthcare standards.
  • Administrative & Clerical Operations: Perform key front-office duties including answering phones with professional etiquette, taking detailed messages, managing daily logs, executing patient intake registration, filing charges, and scheduling appointments.
  • Patient Navigation & Care Coordination: Transport patients and specialized clinical equipment safely between units and treatment centers using proper body mechanics. Coordinate closely with nursing teams regarding patient whereabouts, ensuring all safety measures (call bells, bed rails, oxygen lines) are perfectly secured upon return.
  • Inventory Control: Conduct thorough weekly inventories of medical and clinic supplies, audit stock levels, and coordinate replenishment orders with the administrative secretary to prevent shortages.
  • Mentorship & Teamwork: Assist in the onboarding, orientation, and functional mentoring of newly hired aides and therapy volunteers as requested.
  • Emergency Compliance: Maintain an active, comprehensive working knowledge of all organizational safety, fire, evacuation, emergency care, and disaster management protocols.

Minimum Essential Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Core Aptitude: Strong desire to work in a hands-on, patient-centered clinical environment. Prior background in customer service, athletic training, fitness, or basic office administration is highly adaptable.
  • Technical Compliance: Ability to understand, remember, and execute highly specific verbal and written instructions from licensed clinicians. Must demonstrate the physical capacity to lift, transfer, and navigate patients safely utilizing proper body mechanics.
  • Interpersonal Excellence: Exceptional communication skills, professional telephonic etiquette, and an empathetic, compassionate demeanor when interacting with patients, families, and multi-disciplinary healthcare professionals.

Performance-Based Earning Potential

This role offers a structured path for financial advancement. Through consistent high performance, expanded operational competencies, and annual performance reviews over time, employees have the opportunity to earn up to $27.96 per hour .

Premier Benefits

  • Exceptional Retirement Package: Retirement plans with employer matching. Combined, the organization contributes up to 8% of your eligible pay toward your future.
  • World-Class Healthcare: Access preventive care and specialty services through an exclusive provider network.
  • Generous Paid Time Off: Enjoy up to 5.5 weeks of PTO per year, plus 7 paid holidays, with unique options to buy or sell PTO days to fit your lifestyle.
  • Tuition Assistance: Benefit from up to $6,000 per academic year in tuition reimbursement, plus exclusive tuition discounts at over 30 partner colleges and universities.
