Dietitian (Somerset)

In this role, you’ll bring your nutrition expertise to the bedside, partnering with an interdisciplinary team to help manage and support the care of hospitalized patients. You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered nutrition care that truly makes a difference.

• You’ll provide care to diverse patient populations using Medical Nutrition Therapy, including assessments, goal setting, and individualized care plans
• You’ll serve as the nutrition expert for assigned units or committees, helping drive improvements in nutrition care processes
• You’ll collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and the broader care team to ensure the best outcomes for your patients
• As needed, you’ll ensure documentation meets outpatient billing and regulatory requirements
• You’ll identify malnutrition and develop nutrition diagnoses using Nutrition Focused Physical Assessments and established criteria
• You’ll educate and counsel patients and families, tailoring your approach to their unique needs and understanding

• When needed, you’ll create written materials, presentations, and communications for a variety of audiences

• You’ll provide timely interventions based on each patient’s nutrition risk and plan of care
• You’ll participate in quality improvement efforts and help support evidence-based practices across the department
• You’ll carry out order writing in alignment with Dietitian Delegation Order protocols

• For individuals who obtained their Registered Dietitian (RD) certification prior to January 1, 2026, a bachelor's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics is required.
• For individuals who obtained their Registered Dietitian (RD) certification on or after January 1, 2026, a master's degree in a Nutrition or Dietetics is required.
• Strong nutrition education/counseling and mentoring skills .
• Critical thinking skills for sound decision making.
• Prior experience with UPMC Somerset strongly preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

• Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) within 9 months of hire.
• Registered Dietitian (RD) within 6 months of hire.
• Act 34 with renewal
