Café the Lodge (a program of RHD) is a full-service café that employs and trains people in recovery from challenges resulting from mental health issues.

Clients prepare and serve quality coffee, tea, breakfasts and lunches in an environment that affirms self-determination and builds the skills necessary to

be productive and part of the community. Café the Lodge works side by side with participants to prepare and transition for entry into competitive

employment in the community. Café the Lodge opened in 2011 and has since become a thriving business and a fixture in the Bethlehem community.

Description/Job Summary

Cafe the Lodge is seeking a full time Employment Specialist. The Employment Specialist is responsible to help consumers served by Café the Lodge to develop the skills necessary to succeed with competitive employment in the community. Each consumer has unique strengths, needs and preferences that must be considered and supported in all interactions. The Employment Specialist will be responsible for regular support, data collection, and outcomes of the transitional employment program.

Responsibilities/Duties
  • Providing job support to working program participants
  • Identify and respond to the needs of the consumers in achieving efficient responses to requests and to eliminate barriers limiting productivity in day-to-day activities
  • Engage individuals in a trusting and supportive relationship, providing emotional support within professional boundaries
  • Assess, develop and support competitive employment opportunities to maximize consumers earning potential
  • Assist consumers in identifying and correcting potential job threatening situations
  • Identify, support and track consumer skills
  • Document consumer progress through an Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.
  • Treat all consumers with unconditional positive regard
  • Initiate, support and maintain excellent customer service practices
  • Learn, operate and train consumers in all areas of Cafe the Lodge, including opening procedures, Point of Sale, Barista duties, Cooking & closing duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the general functions of the position
Required Experience

2 Years experience working with individuals with disabilities

Required Education

Bachelors degree in a Human Services, Health or Vocational/Rehabilitation field

Required Qualifications
  • Must possess a valid drivers license
  • Knowledge of community resources, experience in consumer advocacy and the capability of participation in a team format is essential
