THE POSITION

The Department of Human Services (DHS), Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services ( , is seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate and caring Youth Development Counselor Supervisor to lead our team at the Youth Forestry Camp 3. In this position, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating an integrated rehabilitative services program for court committed, adjudicated delinquent residents in the youth development center and youth forestry camp system. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Your work will involve actively supervising professional and nonprofessional employees who provide rehabilitative treatment, education, recreation, and social development programs in accordance with bureau and agency policies. You will ensure the safety and security of staff and residents by maintaining order and discipline. This will be done by employing the least restrictive intervention techniques. Some of your duties will include coordinating treatment services, observing subordinates during their job duties, and conducting regularly scheduled supervisory conferences. Additionally, you will complete employee-related paperwork including but not limited to requests for leave and overtime, work-related injury reports, and required policy sign-off sheets.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work hours will be determined from the following shifts, with a 5 day on 2 day off schedule, including weekends and holidays. This may change based on operational needs.

  • 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM

  • 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

  • 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM

  • 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM

  • 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM

  • Travel and overtime as needed

  • You must be willing to accept employment at Youth Forestry Camp #3 in Huntingdon County.

  • Free parking!

  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Youth Development Counselor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);or

  • One year of professional counseling experience with court adjudicated or socially maladjusted individuals in an organized program, and a bachelor's degree in the behavioral sciences, special education, juvenile justice, or criminal justice;or

  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of professional counseling experience with court adjudicated or socially maladjusted individuals in an organized program.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement ( is currentlywaivedfor this title.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
