Assistant General Manager
Ever wanted to be the first Assistant General Manager at a soon-to-be local institution? This is your chance to co-pilot the FOH helm and create a culture of hospitality, warmth and efficiency at an all-day meeting place that will bridge and update the neighborhood pub and bakery-cafe with the laid-back, unpretentious feeling of a diner. We want to craft edgy, eclectic comfort food and drink by spicing up beloved classics with fresh twists and turns and by offering guests fun, novel creations they can't find anywhere else. To do this, we need an ambitious, creative FOH leader who's serious about the details, fearless as a leader—and frankly a blast to be around.
The Gist of What You'll Do:

BASIC DETAILS Required Experience: 5+ years
Staff: Manage and coach approximately 20 FOH teammates Compensation : Salary is competitive with market and commensurate with experience. Two weeks PTO to start; health coverage premium subsidy DEEPER DIVE 'Trains on Time'
- Choreograph baristas and bartenders, hosts, servers and runners, so that guests experience seamless, artful hospitality that's a refuge from an often impersonal and tumultuous world
- Maintain inventory and purchasing
- Foster a collaborative spirit where everyone has each other's backs—and tips are shared strictly according to SOP
- Report to General Manager with key data (sales, trends, reviews, anecdotal evidence from staff) to inform menu development and systems
Communicate Constructively and Consistently
- Set and constantly articulate the highest standards of cleanliness, speed, organization and tastiness
- Provide frequent positive and corrective feedback to drive home those standards
- Make sure those standards and that feedback are addressed in daily lineup, reinforced in real time, and preserved in email and other documents, such as job descriptions and staff reports
- Share and update important SOPs
- Mentor a talented team and constantly motivate them
- Assist in hiring, firing, onboarding, training, scheduling, and discipline; participate in employee reviews
- Notice problems—whether technical, interpersonal or systemic—brainstorm solutions, and take ownership as needed
- Adhere to a consistent daily schedule, provide a weekly to-do list outlining the week’s priorities, and note long-term tasks
- Monitor facilities and practices to make sure they're to code
- Maintain Daily Documents, including but not limited to: Order Guides, Prep and Inventory Lists, Daily Order Sheets, Kitchen Count Sheets, and Cleaning Checklists
- Make recommendations for our Employee Handbook
- Work with the EC and CDC to constantly deliver a guest experience that nourishes body and soul
- Inspire a positive relationship between the FOH and BOH teams
- Make sure FOH teammates understand menu changes before dishes go live
