Do you have a passion for helping someone achieve financial stability? Do you have a talent for budgeting and understanding money management? Advantage Credit Counseling Service, Inc. has an opening in its counseling department and is looking for a compassionate, nonjudgmental individual to join its team of counselors. The agency is hiring a Credit Counselor, who will interact with the agency’s clients to help them achieve financial stability.

Job responsibilities for this position include:

• Conducts counseling sessions using a variety of mediums including in-person, telephone, and web based meeting platforms o The session will include an assessment of a client’s overall financial situation by completing a spending analysis; developing a debt management program when appropriate; writing an action plan and maintaining follow-up communications with clients
• Provides housing counseling services including pre-purchase and foreclosure prevention
• Maintains a knowledge of programs and organizations that may be beneficial to clients
• Attend outreach events to promote agency services
• Completes a certification course by the National Foundation for Credit Counseling within six months of hire
• Completes Housing Counseling certifications as required for housing counseling services

Basic knowledge and skills required:

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Excellent verbal and written skills
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently
• Ability to work with a diverse population and sensitive to differences in cultural, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds
• Strong communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Ability to work in client management systems

Preferred skills

Knowledge of credit and housing assistance programs. Spanish Fluency a plus.

This is a remote position with some exceptions. A 37 hour, Monday through Friday work week. Other benefits include medical, dental and vision; paid time off; life insurance and short and long term disability.
