The Paul Michael School of Music offers in-home music lessons for all instruments. As our enrollment continues to grow, our teachers' schedules are filling up and we are now in need of an additional Guitar teacher. Candidates for all available teaching positions should have more than 8 years of training on the instrument they are applying to teach. The ideal candidate will have proficiency in more than one instrument, as well as an advanced degree in music, however those are not requirements.

At the Paul Michael School of Music, we serve a diverse demographic consisting of very serious students, people looking to delve into a new hobby, or just add some artistic exposure to their child's lives. We teach a wide range of repertoire and aim to nourish our students' love of music, so it's important that applicants are flexible in curriculum and willing to tailor their approach to individual students.

This position requires a reliable car and consistent schedule so that we can provide weekly lessons throughout the school year with minimal (if any) interruption. Our teaching calendar resembles the school calendar which means more or less there are no lessons when there is no school, allowing flexibility for travel several times throughout the year.

Teachers should plan to commit to an entire school year as students develop attachments to their teachers and it negatively affects their musical journey if their teacher abruptly leaves mid-year.

While we offer a training program, you have the freedom to achieve school-wide goals (such as teaching all students how to read music) through an approach that best suits you. You will not be forced to follow any curriculum so long as musicality, literacy, technique and music theory are being conveyed.

All administrative work such as scheduling, billing, concert logistics, marketing, mediating parent issues are handled by the school. You never have to worry about not getting paid on time or enforcing policies that protect you, as the school fulfills that role.

At the Paul Michael School of Music, you are an Employee rather than an Independent Contractor, which means the school pays 7.65% of your FICA taxes.
