The Lower Paxton Township Sewer Department is accepting applications for the full-time position of Maintenance Mechanic I . This is an entry level position in the Sewer Department that performs skilled manual work in the construction and maintenance of the sanitary sewer system including but not limited to the installation or replacement of private sewers; working on private property as part of the replacement crew; conducting visual inspections of sanitary sewer lines; engaging in sanitary sewer inspection functions that include physical checks of manholes, pump stations, meters, and related sewer system facilities; assisting in the inspection and maintenance of sanitary sewer flow meters; including checking sewer flow levels and cleaning sensors. The employee is also responsible to cut grass or remove snow at pump stations and other facilities. This is a union position.

The hours of work for this position will typically be either four (4) ten (10)-hour days or five (5) eight (8)-hour days, starting at 6:30 a.m., weekdays Monday through Friday. The Sewer Operations Facility is located at 5993 Locust Lane, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Minimum Experience, Education, and Training Requirements: Graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program. One year of experience as a general laborer is required. Training or experience in construction trades, safety, and pumping equipment is desired. A valid driver’s license is required at time of hire; a valid Pennsylvania CDL Class B license is required as a condition of hire or successful completion of the probationary period.
