We’re currently seeking a dedicated Assistant Director of Nursing to lead our nursing team at Luther Acres, a Luthercare community delivering skilled nursing care and rehabilitation services in Lititz, PA. This is a FT exempt-level position Monday-Friday 11am-7pm with an on-call rotation.

WHAT YOU DO:
As the Assistant Director of Nursing at Luther Acres, your goal will be to develop an effective, efficient, and collaborative work environment as you plan, direct, and supervise nursing team members and nursing operations in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
Essential Functions:
Qualified individuals must be able to perform the following essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Develops and recommends standards of care, promulgate changes and monitors compliance with rounds, periodic conferences with nursing staff, and report review.
- Conducts interviews with direct care applicants as needed and recommends hiring decision with Recruiting and Human Resources
- Function as primary contact and educator of staff in Infection Prevention practices and clinical development.
- Infection Preventionist responsibilities including assessing, developing, implementing, monitoring, and managing the Infection Prevention and Control Plan, with the assistance of Luthercare Administrative staff and software.
- Maintains accurate reports of applicable infectious outbreaks and reports to appropriate agencies/governing bodies.
- Maintains accurate record of resident immunizations (including but not limited to Flu, COVID, RSV) and administers vaccines as needed. Coordinates vaccine clinics with pharmacy.
- Initiate and monitor Enhanced Barrier Precautions for residents when applicable.
- Educates Nursing staff on nursing standards in conjunction with Director of Nursing and Luthercare standards to ensure that operations fall within guidelines set forth by federal/state regulatory bodies.
- Provides weekly/periodic audits as assigned, including but not limited to environmental audits, staffing concern audits, etc.
- Dedicates time to provide on-the-floor observation in the healthcare center while conducting as needed and routine rounds of the healthcare center to assess compliance with regulations. Troubleshoot areas of concern to avoid problematic issues. Is pro-active in dealing with identified problem areas.
- In conjunction with the Director of Nursing, evaluates nursing staff performance and counsels/disciplines employees when appropriate, while maintaining pertinent documentation.
- Plans, develops, and executes clinical competency evaluations for all nursing staff.
- Assist to maintain nursing budget to minimize waste.
- Manages Clinical Programs, such as wound care as directed by the Director of Nursing and participates in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) as required. Completes regulatory compliance reports as required.
- Research and address resident issues, concerns, and problems. Provides assistance and information to residents and families as appropriate. Performs resident documentation as required following Luthercare’s Medical Record Documentation standard. Performs nursing duties following licensure scope of practice.
- Works with the interdisciplinary team (IDT) and the Director of Nursing to provide essential nursing services, nursing education using effective communication skills.
- Assumes on-call responsibility on a rotating schedule.
- Provides flexibility in personal schedule to ensure the training and competency needs of the healthcare center are met in a timely fashion
Secondary Functions:
- Attends and participates in staff meetings, projects, special events, committees, and continuing education sessions as required. Completes required mandatory training and competencies as assigned.
- Reviews/writes standards and procedures for review/approval and memorandums as needed.
- Provides direct resident care and serves as the RN Supervisor/Manager as needed.
- Promotes and encourages individualized resident independence while maintaining safety measures, fall prevention, infection control standards, resident dignity, individuality, and confidentiality.
The ideal candidate for this position is a PA Registered Nurse (BSN) with two years’ experience as an Assistant Director of Nursing at a long-term health care center, proven experience in nursing leadership roles and providing geriatric resident care, and in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing long-term care industry.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Required Education & Licensure:
- Current PA Licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- Current Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification
Essential Job-Related Experience/Abilites:
- Two (2) years Clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in long term care health services.
- Ability to build trusting, supportive relationships with residents while fostering a warm, respectful, and therapeutic environment that promotes their wellbeing and dignity.
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal/state regulations governing nursing services and medical record standards.
- Ability to lift and turn residents with a maximum of 50 lbs. effort and perform the functions required to push residents in wheelchairs.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft and the ability to utilize electronic health record processes.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Fit testing as needed per Luthercare’s Respiratory Prevention Program.
Preferred Job-Related Experience/Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Five (5) years of experience in risk management and nursing supervision.
- Point Click Care Experience
- Current Infection Prevention Certification
