Summary/Objective:
The Produce Lead is responsible for the overall presentation, rotation, and quality of produce within the store. This hands-on position supports and guides the produce team in daily operations, including receiving, stocking, sanitation, and customer service. The role ensures the department operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with company standards and food safety regulations.
Essential Functions:
Oversee and participate in the stocking, rotation, and merchandising of produce displays
Monitor quality and freshness of all produce items; remove damaged or expired products
Support and lead produce staff during daily operations and shift changes
Maintain department cleanliness, food safety, and compliance with health codes
Provide exceptional customer service; assist customers and resolve concerns professionally
Receive, inspect, and verify produce deliveries for quality and accuracy
Track inventory and assist with ordering and waste reduction
Ensure accurate pricing and proper signage is in place
Train new produce associates and coach existing team members as needed
Communicate regularly with management regarding departmental needs and performance
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience:
Minimum 1 year of produce or grocery department experience
Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in cool environments
Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

Workplace Environment:
This position operates in a retail store environment and includes exposure to cold storage areas. Employees are regularly required to handle fresh produce, operate manual equipment (such as pallet jacks), and follow food safety procedures. The noise level is generally moderate.
Physical Demands :
Must be able to talk, hear, stand, walk, lift, bend, squat, push, and pull throughout the shift. Must be able to stand and perform repetitive tasks.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and standard work hours are generally Monday through Saturday. Employees work various shifts, with overtime as required.

No travel required.
