Staff Applications Operations Engineer
- Be responsible for providing operational leadership to support and maintain critical applications, data pipelines, processing platforms, and services.
- Partnering with users and product team to understand their application product operational needs; translate these into a support model for multiple products.
- Partnering with business and product team to define and tracks KPIs.
- Communicates operational status to users and leadership.
- Drives resolution of escalated items.
- Investigate root cause of severe and systemic outages, identify corrective actions and apply across the enterprise
- Develop availability measures that align with consumer experience to accurately assess the usability of crucial services
- Develop automated monitoring to address potential problems before they result in a service interruption
- Build capacity models to baseline transactional load compared to resource performance and leverage data to predict overall system capacity while automating load placement to avoid outages
- Develop response plans to potential failure points and evaluate effectiveness during planned tests
- Drive increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication, leveraging product and technology reuse
- Perform comprehensive operational health checks of the entire services to identify areas of concern and track activities to drive improvements at all levels of the architecture
- Subject matter expert in processes and methodologies with ability to adapt and improvise in various situations. Expert in navigating through ambiguity and prioritizing conflicting asks.
- Provide technical coaching and direction to more junior teammates
- Change Agent - Proactively learns new tools and integrates new methods to drive improved outcomes. Identifies and assesses new technologies that can add value and capability to GE. Builds rapport with the team and gets buy-in for ideas. Drives stakeholder understanding and acceptance of new ideas in their business. - Consulting - Provides options and counsel. Drives dialogues that produce new perspectives and substantial innovation, enhancements and analysis of consequences. Consults on projects to fit systems or infrastructure, and project goals to their function, and vice versa. Provides risk-assessed options in relation to process enhancement and professional expertise. Consults on data or data infrastructure development projects and identifies when necessary to modify the solution.
- Curiosity/Creativity - Connects ideas and solutions from a broad array of sources (e.g., what other businesses are doing, brainstorming with others). Pilots new ideas and processes that have not been utilized before.
- Decision Making & Risk Management - Analyzes and interprets business strategy, policies, values, complex data patterns and relationships to make decisions regardless of incomplete and conflicting information and uncertain consequences. Makes benchmarked and researched recommendations with contingency plans in place for potential adverse consequences; takes responsibility for consequences of decision/risk. Coordinates team's work and performance with broader organizational objectives and manages conflicts between them. Advises others in how to solve difficult problems.
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university or college with minimum of 4 years of professional experience OR Associates degree with minimum of 7 years of professional experience OR High School Diploma with minimum of 9 years of professional experience
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in Application Operations or IT
- Note: Military experience is equivalent to professional experience
