Sloter Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurship

Lycoming College
Williamsport, PA
Lycoming College is searching for a dynamic and enthusiastic leader to serve as the Sloter Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurship. The new chair will bring broad knowledge and expertise to the college, demonstrating excellence in teaching and the ability to prepare students for real-world success in entrepreneurship. A variety of academic and applied backgrounds may qualify a candidate for this position. Academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship or related fields (e.g., Finance, Management, Marketing, Operations, Organizational Behavior, Strategy, Economics) or a D.B.A, M.B.A., or J.D along with a track record of entrepreneurial experience.

The Sloter Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurship serves as the driving force for the academic and co-curricular elements of the Entrepreneurship program at Lycoming College. The design of the academic program as a minor encourages an interdisciplinary focus, empowering students to develop expertise in entrepreneurship that can be applied across diverse areas of interest, industries, and fields of study. The Lycoming College Entrepreneurship program welcomes an innovative leader who is excited to try new things both inside and outside of the classroom.

The typical teaching load for the Sloter Chair is 3-3 or 3-2, depending on the design and nature of co-curricular entrepreneurship activities within an academic year. As a member of the Business Administration department and Institute of Management Studies, the chair teaches courses that serve the Entrepreneurship minor, the Business Administration major, as well as interdisciplinary academic programs such as Performing Arts Management. This faculty member is encouraged to take a lead role in course development, customizing the curriculum to best suit the needs of the students. The Sloter Chair will also serve as an academic advisor and mentor to students enrolled in entrepreneurship and business administration.

An important element of this position is an interest and a talent for leading co-curricular activities. Applicants are encouraged to describe their interest in developing hands-on programs and entrepreneurial events on campus (i.e., idea incubators, pitch competitions, etc.). In addition to on campus experiential learning, this position will work closely with the college’s Center for Enhanced Academic Experience (CEAE) to coordinate internship, practicum, and other applied experiences within the local Williamsport, PA community and beyond.
