Insurance Defense Attorney

L&W Recruiting, on behalf of a well‑established Mid‑Atlantic law firm, seeks an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join the firm’s Litigation Defense and Business Law practice in Allentown, PA. The role is suited to an attorney with 2–6+ years of insurance defense litigation experience who can manage an independent docket while contributing to a collaborative, growth‑oriented practice. Key responsibilities

• Manage a full docket of insurance defense matters from intake through resolution, including case assessment, investigation, discovery, motion practice, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and other court filings with accuracy and timeliness.
• Conduct and defend depositions; prepare witnesses; coordinate with retained experts and outside vendors as necessary.
• Appear for hearings, case management conferences, mediations, and trials; present and advocate effectively in court.
• Communicate regularly and professionally with clients, insurance carriers, claims personnel, opposing counsel, and court staff regarding case status and strategy.
• Maintain organized case files, calendars, and adherence to procedural deadlines and court rules.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop litigation strategy, support firm objectives, and participate in mentoring and professional development activities.

Required qualifications

• 2–6+ years of experience in insurance defense litigation or related civil litigation practice.
• Active license to practice law in Pennsylvania.
• Demonstrated litigation skills, including motion practice, deposition experience, and courtroom exposure.
• Proven ability to manage a substantial caseload independently while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, organization, and client‑management aptitude.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience handling a variety of insurance defense matters across multiple stages of litigation.
• Demonstrated success in settlement negotiation and trial preparation.
• Familiarity with e‑filing systems, case management and document management platforms.
• Collaborative approach to practice and interest in mentoring junior attorneys and contributing to firm growth.
