Position Description: Manager of Gift Planning and EITC
The Manager of Gift Planning and EITC will be primarily responsible for strengthening the Lehigh ValleyJewish Foundation, the community's endowment fund operated by the Jewish Federation of the LehighValley. The Manager will maintain and enhance relationships with donors, identify and cultivate new donors, and interact at the highest levels with members of the Gift Planning community locally and nationally. The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, knowledge of Jewish communal life, and a desire to learn.
RESPONSIBILITIES Fundraising, Donor Stewardship and Marketing:
1. Direct and conduct development, solicitation and marketing to create new endowment funds.2. Increase gifts from current donors and obtain gifts such as bequests, gifts of retirement plans and split interest trusts and other entities that will substantially contribute to Federation's future endowment.
3. Enhance communication, offer educational opportunities and maintain positive relationships with annual campaign donors and current fund holders so they continue to be a key source of additional endowments.
4. Maintain and enhance relations with the greater Lehigh Valley professional estate planning community and cultivate these sources of business referrals.
5. Advise and assist prospective donors and their professional advisors in their charitable and estate planning efforts.
6. Solicit individuals and businesses to participate in Pennsylvania's Educational Improvement TaxCredit program through the organization and maintain paperwork and communication with the state to receive credit.
7. Develop a thorough knowledge of local beneficiary agencies and synagogues, and overseas beneficiaries in order to accurately represent their financial needs to prospective donors.
Management and Administrative Responsibilities: 1. Staff endowment and investment committees to develop lay leadership, obtain lay input and increase participation in decision making process.2. Demonstrate leadership, communication, mentoring, empowerment and resource management within Federation and the endowment department.3. Work with Investment Committee, maximizing investment returns within appropriate risk parameters.4. Ensure operations of foundation endeavors are conducted within stringent requirements of law and fiduciary duty.5. Maintain relationships with, and the records of, affiliated supporting foundations.6. Develop and implement annual budget for the endowment department.7. Provide effective liaison with other departments to promote integration of donor development, marketing, information technology and fund distribution into successful Federation operations.8. Direct the operations of the endowment department to include record retention, fund distributions, events and mailings.
9. Promote the mission of the Federation at all times through superior customer service to all and through the efficient use and care of all resources.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's degree required; a graduate degree in law, accounting, finance, business or related field is preferred.2. Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, the ability to deal with confidential topics, and ability to articulate the mission of the Federation's endowment program to the community are required.
3. Exceptional interpersonal skills, supervisory and leadership abilities, and sales/marketing skills are essential.
4. Knowledge of Jewish culture and the organized Jewish community are required, as is the ability to present a strong and recognizable commitment to the enrichment of the Jewish community.
5. Demonstrated fundraising experience is helpful.6. Ability to organize, prioritize, delegate and follow through with multiple projects simultaneously, focusing carefully on detail and timelines, is essential.7. Desire to be part of an assertive, cooperative, and collaborative professional staff team is required.8. Working knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office software (especially Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint), and Crescendo Gift Planning software (or equivalent) is required.
SUPERVISION
The Manager of Gift Planning and EITC functions under the direct supervision of the Executive Director of the Jewish Federation of the Lehigh Valley as augmented by the guidance of the Jewish FederationPresident, the Chairperson of the Lehigh Valley Jewish Foundation Committee, and the chairperson of theLehigh Valley Jewish Foundation Investment Committee.
