Behavioral Health Autism Services (Un-paid) Internship opportunity / SPIN
SPIN is seeking a dedicated and inspired intern that is interested in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to support our Behavioral Health and Autism Services (BHAS). This hands-on internship is ideal for college students looking to gain real-world experience in the Behavioral Health field. It is ideal for interns’ who are interested in gaining experience in ABA and working with children with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Interns will collaborate with our team on impactful projects while building professional skills, expanding their network, and contributing to meaningful work that supports children and their families meeting their individualized treatment goals.
Perfect for students in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Special Education or related fields preferred.
As a Behavioral Health and Autism Services Intern, you will implement therapeutic plans, collect data, and gain on-hands experience with Applied Behavior analysis (ABA) interventions.
Responsibilities may include:
Behavioral Support - providing immediate reinforcements, building functional skills, and structuring activities for children.
Data Collection: Supporting clients through formal observations and data collection to monitor progress on goals.
Group Facilitation : Assisting staff in preparing therapeutic groups and an enriched, engaging environment for children
Communication: communicating with each child, family, classroom staff and the rest of the IBHS-ABA team gather information and communicate changing needs and progress toward attaining outcomes on an ongoing basis.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a college or university (Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Special Education or related field preferred).
- Ability to commit to at least 10 scheduled hours per week.
- Ability to travel to different locations based on programmatic needs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good organizational Skills
- Creative, organized, and eager to learn
- Familiarity with children with autism spectrum disorder and ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis).
- Passion for community impact and nonprofit work
