We’re currently seeking a dedicated Director of Nursing to lead our nursing team at Luther Acres, a Luthercare community delivering skilled nursing care and rehabilitation services in Lititz, PA. This is an exempt-level position.

WHAT YOU DO:
As the Director of Nursing at Luther Acres, your goal will be to develop an effective, efficient, and collaborative work environment as you plan, direct, and supervise nursing team members and nursing operations in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
Essential Functions:
Qualified individuals must be able to perform the following essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation:
Clinical Leadership & Compliance
- Manage and oversee nursing services to ensure efficient staffing and high standards of resident care.
- Develop, implement, and monitor nursing care standards in line with federal, state, and Luthercare policies.
- Conduct rounds, lead nursing staff meetings, and review reports to ensure clinical compliance and quality assurance.
- Collaborate with Luthercare leadership to ensure adherence to PA Department of Health and CMS regulations.
Staffing, Supervision & Development
- Interview, hire, supervise, and evaluate nursing staff.
- Provide coaching, counseling, and disciplinary action as appropriate.
- Oversee attendance, staffing patterns, and payroll/human resources documentation.
- Coordinate ongoing staff education, in-service training, and clinical competency programs.
- Ensure current licensure and certifications of all nursing personnel.
Budget & Resource Management
- Develop and manage the nursing department budget.
- Implement cost-control measures to minimize waste and ensure efficient resource use.
Resident Services & Quality Assurance
- Supervise the admissions and discharge process.
- Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and quality assurance/performance improvement (QAPI) committees.
- Investigate and resolve resident and family concerns in a timely and compassionate manner.
Clinical Practice
- Perform nursing duties within the scope of RN licensure as needed.
- Maintain documentation per Luthercare’s medical record standards.
- Uphold standards of infection control, fall prevention, and resident safety.
Secondary Functions:
- Lead and coordinate interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Represent the healthcare center in public relations activities as needed.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, events, and committees as required.
- Encourage and maintain residents' independence, dignity, and confidentiality.
The ideal candidate for this position is a PA Registered Nurse (BSN) with two years’ experience as a Director of Nursing at a long-term health care center, proven experience in nursing leadership roles and providing geriatric resident care, and in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing long-term care industry.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Required Education & Licensure:
- Current RN license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (in good standing).
- Current CPR certification.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Director of Nursing in a nursing care setting, including a working knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing long-term care with managing and supervising nursing personnel.
- Working knowledge of PointClickCare software.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Effective communication, organizational, and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Ability to lift residents up to 50 lbs. and push wheelchairs.
- Must be alert and able to work safely at all times.
- Fit testing may be required under Luthercare’s Respiratory Protection Program.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Occasional exposure to blood, body fluids, and contaminated sharps.
- Work performed in a healthcare setting with regular resident contact.
